BETA APPLICATION DOCUMENTS
Before you apply
These documents explain what beta participation involves, how information is handled and how guardian consent works. The operator is Dirk Schoeman, trading as House Hold. Create an account and household to register for the beta; each participating adult signs separately through their verified account.
Beta privacy notice
House Hold uses your full name, email, adult registration confirmation, household planning details, testing feedback and agreement records to operate and support the beta. Supabase provides account and database services, Sites/Cloudflare hosts the app and Resend delivers email. Providers may process information outside South Africa. We do not sell personal information, publish private household information or give it to advertisers. We restrict access to authorised support, security and legal needs.
Household content is shared with members of that household. Parents or legal guardians can create a child profile and username/password login without a child email address, or approve an email-based child invitation. Linked child accounts can use the features their household permissions allow. Child account information is excluded from public pages and marketing. A parent or legal guardian can correct or remove a child profile and withdraw consent. Contact beta@householdapp.co.za for access, correction, deletion or privacy requests.
Your information and choices
Updated 8 October 2026These details explain how House Hold uses information in its website, Android app and iPhone/iPad app, alongside the beta privacy notice and participation agreement.
Optional birthdays
Registering interest does not collect your birthday. If you later save a birthday in your member profile, House Hold stores the full date privately so you can view and edit it. Other household members receive only the month and day for the shared calendar, not your birth year or age. Authorised operational access remains limited to support, security and legal needs.
Your birthday appears in the household calendar each year. You can leave the date blank or clear it in your profile to remove the saved birthday and its calendar entries. February 29 birthdays appear on February 28 in other years. A standalone parent-managed child profile only requires a name or nickname. A linked member account can use profile settings; keep optional information to the minimum needed.
Child logins, permissions and rewards
House Hold is intended for people aged 13 and older. An adult parent or legal guardian must approve accounts for ages 13–17 and confirm the minimum age. Children under 13 must not use House Hold. Contact support if an existing account belongs to someone under 13 so we can arrange appropriate removal. We record the guardian’s confirmation without requiring an extra birth date.
Parents or legal guardians can create a username and password for a child, reset that password and manage the child profile. Supabase processes account authentication. House Hold associates the child account with its guardian and household. Parent-created logins use an internal account address rather than requiring the child to have an email mailbox.
Members’ names, optional profile photos, assigned tasks, chore completions, approval records, point awards, deductions and reasons, and reward redemptions are stored to provide household features. Household permissions determine access. Children cannot change roles; grocery purchase permissions are controlled by the owner. Each household has separate membership and records. Do not put sensitive information in task titles, deduction reasons or support messages.
A guardian can remove a child profile or withdraw consent in Children you manage. Removing a household profile is different from deleting an authentication account and all associated records. Use the account deletion page or contact support for account-wide deletion and guardian verification.
Profile pictures
If you choose a profile picture, the app resizes it and stores it with your member profile. It is visible to authorised members of your household. You can remove it in Profile. Photo selection is optional.
Ratings and public reviews
Each adult is asked to submit an honest rating and written review as the final beta task. Any rating completes that task. Permission to publish is optional and does not affect your beta place or task completion.
You can keep the review private, publish it with your chosen first name, or publish it as Anonymous. You confirm that choice when submitting. If you allow publication, the rating and review appear automatically on the public House Hold website. Your email and full birth date are not included.
Anonymous hides your name from the public; the review remains linked to your account internally for managing your submission and permission. Avoid including personal details in the review text. The separate end of beta survey stays private.
Use Withdraw permission to publish beneath your submitted review, or contact beta@householdapp.co.za. Withdrawal removes it from our public review feed while keeping your task complete. We cannot remove screenshots, copies or search engine caches held by others. A publication preference chosen at interest registration is confirmed again when you submit the review.
Optional Google sign in
When available, you can use Google to sign in to an existing House Hold account with the same verified email. Google and Supabase process your Google identity, email and basic profile information to authenticate you. House Hold does not receive your Google password or request access to Gmail or Google Calendar through this login. Your browser temporarily stores a verification value while completing the sign in. Your Remember me choice applies to the resulting House Hold session.
Optional Sign in with Apple
You can sign in with Apple or connect Apple to an existing House Hold account from Sign-in methods. Apple and Supabase process the identity and verification credentials. House Hold receives the Apple user identifier and the name and email Apple supplies, which may be a private relay address if you choose Hide My Email. We do not receive your Apple Account password. Connecting Apple while signed into your existing account retains its household memberships. Account deletion includes processing Apple authorisation revocation.
Phone notifications
Notifications are optional. Apple handles iPhone/iPad permission and APNs delivery. House Hold stores the account-bound APNs token and an installation identifier and proof to route alerts. Android and browser notifications use a permitted browser push subscription, including its delivery endpoint and keys; the Android app also checks the phone’s notification permission. Household alerts and announcements may show on the lock screen according to your device settings. Disable alerts in the app or phone settings.
Subscriptions across your devices
Apple or Google processes payment details for purchases made through its store. House Hold verifies purchase identifiers, the plan, account binding, covered households, renewal/cancellation status and expiry to provide account access across platforms and prevent duplicate checkout. We do not receive card details from store purchases. Restoring requires the original House Hold account and store account. Manage or cancel with the original billing provider. Deleting a House Hold account does not cancel a store subscription. Customer payments remain disabled during the free beta.
Beta emails and delivery records
We use your registered email for interest confirmations, beta access instructions, support and your signed agreement copy. After you sign the agreement through your account, the app requests delivery of its PDF to the verified email recorded with that signature. You can also download the signed copy in the app. Delivery may fail, so check the app if an email does not arrive.
Resend processes recipients, email content and attachments to deliver these messages. We use message identifiers and delivery, bounce and complaint events to manage launch delivery, prevent duplicate sends and stop sending to addresses that should not receive further launch emails. Launch emails include an unsubscribe link. You can also contact beta@householdapp.co.za to withdraw from beta communications. An unsubscribe does not itself delete your account or agreement.
Beta administration does not give permission for unrelated marketing. The retention information below applies to beta records; provider copies and delivery logs are also subject to the provider handling described in the agreement.
Connected calendars
If you choose automatic calendar syncing, we store the private feed link in a restricted database area and use it to refresh events about every 15 minutes while House Hold is open and visible. No background refresh runs when the app is closed. Household members can see imported event titles, dates and details, but cannot read the feed link. Syncing includes the past month and next twelve months and works in one direction. Source changes and cancellations replace the linked events in House Hold. A failed refresh keeps the previous events. You or a household owner can disconnect the calendar to delete its saved link and synced events. Files and links imported without syncing remain snapshots.
Beta discount eligibility
An accepted final beta review creates a three calendar month discount claim window. We keep a fingerprint of your registered email and the submission and expiry dates to verify eligibility, even if your beta account is deleted sooner. The fingerprint is not public. Expired eligibility records are removed by our scheduled beta cleanup. This does not extend retention of your household data. Contact beta@householdapp.co.za from your registered email to claim before expiry.
Complimentary access
If you redeem an influencer invitation, we link the grant to your verified email, account and household and record its expiry or withdrawal. Active complimentary access preserves your household through beta cleanup. For beta records covered by an expired or revoked grant, the retention month runs from the later applicable end date. Codes do not subscribe you to a paid plan.
Storage on your device
Remember me stores authentication session credentials in your browser’s local storage so you can remain signed in on that device. If you uncheck it, the session uses tab storage instead. House Hold does not store your password in that browser storage. Sign out when you finish on a shared device.
The browser also stores your Remember me preference, notification prompt preference, demo information and temporary invitation information. Demo information stays on that browser. Phone notifications require your permission and store a delivery subscription so notifications can reach your device. You can disable them in the app or device settings.
Clearing browser storage removes locally saved preferences and demo information and may sign you out; it does not delete your online household account or records.
Website statistics
We count public page and guide popup views using our own traffic endpoint and Supabase. Only daily totals by public page and broad referral source are stored, for up to 90 days, with older totals removed when new traffic is recorded.
We do not store visitor identifiers, IP addresses, full referral URLs, search terms, names or household activity in these statistics. No analytics cookies or browser storage are used. We respect Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals. Our hosting provider also retains operational request logs containing IP addresses, country codes derived from connections, browser/device details, request addresses and timing, status and request identifiers. These logs are separate from the daily traffic totals and are used to operate, secure and troubleshoot the service. We do not treat IP addresses or hashed identifiers as anonymous data. The app does not use Google Analytics or advertising pixels. Campaign labels on interest registrations help us understand which posts brought registrations.
Support and diagnostics
We use support and issue reports, available crash reports and service performance/error logs to diagnose faults and keep House Hold working. Support and testing reports may include your account, household, device description and submitted content. Crash and performance information may be associated with that context; we do not claim that all diagnostics are anonymous. Native app logs do not intentionally print device tokens, installation secrets or purchase credentials.
Supabase provides authentication and database processing; Sites/Cloudflare hosts the service and operational logs; Resend and our support mailbox provider process communications; Apple and Google provide optional identity, store billing and notification services. Provider log, delivery-copy and backup expiry is handled separately from active household records. Contact us for the retention and deletion handling applicable to your request. We do not use advertising trackers or sell your personal information.
Questions or privacy requests
Use Delete your account to submit an account deletion request. This does not cancel a subscription. For access, correction, guardian requests or an objection to processing, contact beta@householdapp.co.za. We may need to verify your identity. You can also raise a privacy complaint with South Africa’s Information Regulator.
How long we keep your records
If you do not continue as a paying customer using the app, we delete your beta records within one calendar month after your participation ends. This includes testers who complete the beta. For applicants who never start, the period begins when the programme ends or they withdraw. Paying customers retain only the information needed for their service. Contact beta@householdapp.co.za to withdraw or request deletion. The agreement below explains record scope, provider copies and any legally required exceptions.
Parent or legal guardian consent
Adults aged 18 or older create households and provide their own acceptance. Children aged 13–17 participate through a parent or legal guardian who confirms their authority and consents to the child profile, login and household features. House Hold stores the child’s name or nickname, account identifiers, guardian relationship and assigned task, chore and reward records. Email is used only for an email-based child account; a parent-created username login does not require the child to supply email. Only provide information needed for household use; avoid sensitive information. House Hold remains responsible for protecting the information it processes.
House Hold beta participation agreement
These updated terms cover child logins and the October beta. Existing signed copies keep their original text. Each participating adult must read and accept this version separately. Earlier signed copies remain available in the app.
Social sharing notice
Facebook, Instagram and TikTok sharing is optional. Do not show children, other people, addresses, private messages or household data without appropriate permission. Submit only links to posts you intentionally made public. House Hold may review public engagement figures, but does not receive permission to reuse your video unless you give separate permission.
